Whether working directly on our projects, assisting our UK team or helping remotely from abroad, volunteering with School Club Zambia is a great opportunity to have a huge impact on a small but vibrant organisation. Whilst from time to time we will advertise for specific positions here on this page, volunteering opportunities within Zambia are now structured through our Innovation Ambassador Programme.
Innovation Ambassador Programme
In 2016 we launched our Innovation Ambassador Programme in partnership with the Zambian Ministry of Education (Sinazongwe District). This new programme ensures that our international or national (but from outside Sinazongwe District) volunteers, contribute meaningfully to upskilling young people from our targetted communities. The programme is led and monitored by our School Enterprise Committees with support from School Club Zambia management.
The programme has intakes from September to February and March to August. We ask all Innovation Ambassadors to consider that this is a 6 month internship and that you must be able to commit to the full duration of a programme cycle before applying.
This programme costs our volunteers £1,900 which covers accommodation, visa fees if required, transport, all project material and a stipend for our Zambian Ambassadors who are graduates from our local communities. We provide a stipend for local Ambassadors in order to allow them to commit their time fully to the programme. All Ambassadors work on projects in pairs, with one intern always from the community where the project is taking place. To date, our incredible Innovation Ambassadors have helped to establish and extend agri-businesses at two schools in Sinazongwe district and greatly strengthened SCZ’s links with our local communities. Our graduate ambassadors all agree that the programme was one of the most personally rewarding experiences that they have ever taken part of and that their careers have greatly benefited from the wide-range of skills learnt during their 6 month placements.
